You've never praised God until you've made a deliberate and
conscious effort to praise him continually.
What do I mean?
Think about it. How much of yourself do you put in to
praising God? Suppose you wanted a drink of water, you
would go to your tap and effortlessly pour out a cup of water
to drink. Right? Well let's change your situation
around. The water you need is in a well at the back of
the house and you needed to pump it out. How would you
get that water?
I assume you
would have to make a conscious effort to walk to your backyard
where the pump is. When you do, you have to put both
hands to the pump and vigorously pump that water out. In
so doing you've made a conscious effort to get a cup or bucket
of water. That was not effortless.
So let me ask
you, How do you praise God? Do you praise Him
effortlessly or do you make a conscious effort to put your
heart and soul in to your praising?
Once I was
teaching a hands-on computer class and one of the students in
the class was taking the class for the second time. He
was known by the other teachers in the center to take a class
up to three times. The reason was not because he was
very interested in the class but simply because during classes,
he had a terrible obsession of switching to the internet to
check on his stocks. This was a great distraction which
caused him to miss out on some important lessons being
taught. He was so consumed with the stocks that he
switched between screens like lightning almost at the end of
every sentence.
Oh if only we
as Christians would be so conscious as to make deliberate
efforts throughout each day to contact our Heavenly Father! |
